There’s many reasons why I am married.
I’m not cut out to be a single parent so I’m working damn hard on this marriage of mine and while it got a little rocky with the culture shock of a new babe 2.5 years ago we’re making a strong comeback.
I have the luxury(?) of testing out the concept of single parenthood every so often, more so lately, as Jon has been travelling along the west coast for work more frequently these last few months.
It’s really hard.
Do you know any single parents? Of course you do, what a silly question.
After two days, I feel beaten down, I have ‘park fatigue’, and I took Sofia out to dinner tonight after Jon called tired but still cheery from a “British pub” somewhere between Portland, OR and home. His co-worker was drinking a stout (which suddenly sounded really good) and he/Jon was eating something Britsh-like while they “waited out” the rush hour traffic.
That sounded like heaven to me. Having to sit and be catered to while waiting for traffic to die down. On the flip side, he’s been missing out on a LOT of Sofia cuteness. Clearly, this is a catch-22.
Single parents are amazing. I am in awe of single parents. Single parents, you have a strength and power that I can only hope I am bringing half the amount of to my marriage. I tip my hat to you.
My little sister called tonight and said that I sounded tired. I told I had been a single parent the last couple of days. Her reply,
“Well, at least you’re not having an Endoscopy and and Colonoscopy tomorrow like my friend, Sarah.”
(Who is also a single parent.)
I’ll just stop feeling sorry for myself right about now, thank you very much.
Thank you Sue, for keepin’ it real. That’s what sister’s are for – right?!

What a wonderful vote for single parents! Yep, I’m one, and yes oh yes it is fatiguing in the extreme. Really laden with duty. Nice blog – and glad your husband is never too far away.
You are amazing and I thank you for taking the time to visit and comment. If you are ever in need of the occasional affirmation of this fact let me know. BTW, I am in love with the name of your blog!
